My name is Michelle and I am a Foodie!!

I have always loved to cook… and always loved to Eat!! During one of my many hospital stays I discovered cooking shows!  I lay for hours watching chefs on various channels creating all sorts of foods. Many were less than interesting.. Rachael Ray and her Lets See How Much Fat We Can Get Into This Meal… and then some chefs like Julia Child and Jacques Pepin who just Loved food and had an instinct that couldn’t be replicated.

I confess I am a foodie.  I talk about Food.  I think about Food. I write about Food. And I adore getting into the kitchen with all the aromas, textures and flavors.  There is a chef that I have been drawn to based on her gorgeous cookbooks and the feelings that they expressed.  Nigella Lawson was a mystery to me other than a cookbook author and co-host of The Taste… which I love and would adore competing on.   Tonight flipping though selections on Hulu, aiming for BBC shows I noticed one of hers. Never having seen her cook before I flipped it on.  I have to say, I’ve been sitting here with a stupid grin on my face for 90 minutes so far.  I’ve discovered someone that feels the same way about cooking as I do.  People think I’m a little crazy because cooking relaxes me, blesses me and gives me a way to nurture the people that I love.  Nigelissima somehow has the ability to express the magic that i experience when I walk into the kitchen each afternoon.  She’s a little klutzy like me, doesn’t always measure, doesn’t believe that perfection is necessary!!!   I will never be glamorous like her, or have a great english accent, but at least in the kitchen, we’re kindred spirits!!!  Loving what you do? It’s a good thing!

    • Try this….. Spicy Fermented Sprouts

      Use what ever freshly sprouted legumes or veggie or spice seeds that you have..

      to your quart jar.. on top of the sprouts add 1 tsp salt and water to the shoulder of the jar.

      add 1 tsp fresh chopped garlic
      1 tsp Turmeric powder
      1 tsp Hot curry powder
      1/2 tsp black pepper
      2 T grated ginger

      Stir well, cover with a coffee filter and rubber band… stir a few times a day for 4-5 days… drain, stick a lid on it and refrigerate!!

      OR

      about 3 tsp of your favorite herbs and spices…

      Try… Mexican Oregano, garlic, cumin seeds
      Spiced
      Or garlic, Za’atar, sumac and turmeric, and 1/2 tsp pepper

      Stir Well.. cover with a coffee filter and rubber band… stir 3-5 times a day for 4-5 days.. drain and refrigerate..
