Isn’t it time to Spice up your life??

For decades I really thought that spices were salt, pepper, cumin, parsley, sage rosemary and thyme.. and i didn’t explore much beyond that!!  After being in pain for decades I read a little about the healing properties of Turmeric! Did you know that it is one of the most potent anti-inflammatories in the world?? The main component Curcumin is thought to be a great treatment for many disorders – gastro-intestinal disease, cystic fibrosis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis… which is where I came in… After being on loads of anti-inflammatories, immune system suppressants and other toxic drugs, I stopped taking them and began taking Turmeric!!   I take a 400 mg capsule each morning.. and in the slim chance that I’m having joint pain.. I’ll take another..  I have taken exactly one Ibuprofen in the last two years… After taking 800 mg every four hours for twenty years!!! (last year I took it for a headache.. and now I know that Turmeric works better for headaches too!!!

Turmeric is the spice that gives mustard it’s distinctive flavor and yellow color, so you may be familiar with it already!!!   I must admit to a slight addiction… I Love feeling good, and Turmeric makes me feel Good!!  I usually eat it at every meal. I read that eating enough Turmeric to have a medicinal affect is difficult… But I’m giving it my best effort!!!  For breakfast I sauté zucchetti in coconut oil with turmeric, hot curry powder and black pepper.. Then top that with fried eggs, my home fermented CurryKraut, and Curried Fermented mung beansprouts!! And I feel great!!

If you are struggling with pain, gastric problems or even headaches, Turmeric is something you might try!! When something delicious can actually heal your body, life just gets better!!  Make sure that you ingest Turmeric with a good fat (like Coconut oil ~ more about my fixation with That later!) and black pepper!! The Piperine in the pepper as well as the good fat can increase the bioavailability of the Turmeric to your system radically!!!

As we go on I’ll be introducing you to my favorite spices and giving you ideas on how to use them to cook… and heal your bodies!!

    • Julie I take the capsules in the morning… And eat Turmeric in my breakfast.. If you don’t wish to add it to your food, simply eat something that has good fat and black pepper…. Think a gorgeous egg fried in coconut oil with ground pepper on top!!
